BizVoice/Indiana Chamber – September/October 2015
Employers that take aggressive actions toward implementing wellness programs will
see decreased health care costs, increased awareness for both low- and high-risk employees
and reduced absenteeism. The 2015 Indiana Health and Wellness Summit will provide
valuable information in these areas that can help save your company thousands of dollars.
Delta Dental of Indiana is the summit sponsor. The Indiana Chamber of Commerce,
American Diabetes Association, Indiana State Department of Health, INShape Indiana and
the Wellness Council of Indiana are hosts for the two-day event on October 7-8 at the JW
Marriott in downtown Indianapolis.
This summit will show you how to implement effective wellness programs, how to
collect and analyze data to find out what’s working and how to measure your return on
investment – no matter your organization’s size or industry. A variety of educational
workshops will cover everything from influencing culture change, decreasing employee
stress and domestic violence and the workplace.
Stephanie Arne, the first-ever female
host of the iconic show “Mutual of
Omaha’s Wild Kingdom,” will kick off
the summit discussing how the earth is
utilized for farming and food production.
She will demonstrate how the food
manufacturing process and industry in
general affect the earth and how these are
directly correlated to certain disease
states in humans.
On October 8, John Agwunobi, MD,
MBA, MPH, former president, Walmart
US Health and Wellness Business Unit, will talk about health care and patient trends and what
will make health care more relevant in the future.
“In an increasingly interconnected world, it’s critical that companies see themselves as
a part of the larger community,” Agwunobi explains. “There’s going to be an increasing
march toward consumerism. My hope is that I can offer insights into what’s driving this
move toward consumerism and how to leverage it in delivering better services, better
products and ultimately delivering a healthier workforce.”
Special events on October 8 include the Indiana Health and Wellness Summit’s Fun
Run & Walk and the annual AchieveWELL Awards Luncheon, honoring organizations that
have advanced in the Wellness Council of Indiana’s certification process.
The investment for the summit is $349 for both days; $249 for either October 7 or
October 8 only. More information about the event and registration can be found at
www.IndianaWellnessSummit.com.
