How has Your Company Benefitted From Being a Best Place to Work?
By David Resnick, Managing Partner, Katz, Sapper & Miller
I
n today’s highly competitive business environment, companies grow by hiring the best, brightest
and most passionate. I believe these individuals are attracted to companies that are committed to
helping them improve their professional skills. It can be a successful reciprocal arrangement for
employers who are committed to creating and fostering the right workplace culture.
In my experience, I’ve found that the most qualified job seekers in our industry today are as
discerning as they’ve ever been. They want a career. They want a life. Our aim at Katz, Sapper &
Miller is for them to have both. The ultimate benefit of being named a Best Place to Work in Indiana
for eight consecutive years is that it communicates to our current and future employees that this
simple concept, thoroughly implemented, truly works.
Striking the right career-life balance is not a new idea. We’re always looking for new ways to help our employees
accomplish this highly-valued goal. We’ve designed our benefits package to include programs that facilitate professional
growth, promote wellness and foster valuable interaction between employees at every level, including with the firm’s partners.
We underwrite educational and professional development opportunities. We support a firm-wide volunteer day of community
service. We keep healthy snacks in the fridge. It’s a total package.
In exchange, our employees are engaged, motivated, collegial and extremely loyal. Company morale is high and
turnover is low.
Attracting and retaining talent is critical to any company’s ultimate success. We’ve found that it pays to
nurture a workplace culture that is stimulating and supportive and that encourages employees to learn, develop
and grow. Our belief is that every employee has a world of potential and that it’s our responsibility to help
achieve that potential. We also believe our dedicated commitment to building a culture that follows these
core principals is what continues to make Katz, Sapper & Miller a Best Place to Work in Indiana.
