INDIANA CHAMBER FOUNDATION
High School, Businesses
Partner in Greenwood
During the inaugural Partners in
Education luncheon at Greenwood High
School, more than 60 local businesses came
together to learn about the new College and
Career Center. They discovered ways local
employers could work to build lasting
relationships that will benefit the school and
business community.
Senior Noah Green – who interned with
Johnson Kellie Plumbing, Heating and Cooling
– told the audience the company “gave me a
wide variety of ways to know what work
experience is like through career exposure in
different areas of HVAC and plumbing. I also
gained a better understanding of the
importance of having a good work ethic.”
Strengthening Greenwood Community
Schools’ college and career readiness program
is one of the main initiatives being planned
through funding the district received from the
Lilly Endowment’s Comprehensive
Counseling Initiative grant. The Indiana
Chamber Foundation is providing technical
assistance support for the schools.
Greenwood Principal Todd Garrison says, “When our
community can come together and provide meaningful
career exploration through internship, mentorship and job
shadowing programs, it develops career skills and knowledge
that our students would not have otherwise gained.”
Senior Noah Green shares his
experience with a local employer.
Stronger connections with business partners will expand opportunities for students to gain
practical work experience and help make Greenwood a better community.
